Breast Feeding Cover

by Rachel on October 4, 2009

I love to make handmade gifts if I have the time.  I have recently begun making breastfeeding covers for the last few baby showers I have attended and they are a big hit!  I have several friends that have store-bought covers and I love the idea.  I personally don’tIMG_0365 have one and use a receiving blanket to cover-up (one day I’ll make one for myself).  I think that the cover-up is a must for any new mom.  Many first-time moms are nervous about breatsfeeding in public, but if you want to be able to go out and about and are determined to breastfeed your baby, you will inevitably have to feed in public.  A breastfeeding cover is a cute way to cover-up and not struggle to feed your new baby in public.

Like I said, I don’t own a cover, but I have borrowed a friend’s and I really love the idea.  I knew that making the covers would be super simple and a great gift for friends.

The picture here is my latest creation that I made for my sister-in-law’s babyshower.  I found this beautiful fabric and I bought several yards.  I love the pattern and I will definitely use it for future projects.

So cute! I love the fabric. I used a “hooter hider”, as I’ve been told they are called when I was in the NICU with my son. We had so many visitors so it was great. I’m a bit nervous to use one in public but have seen people use them and you wouldn’t really even know they were breastfeeding unless you really paid attention.
