This diaper is cool, I really like the system Soft Bums has created!  For the purpose of my review Soft Bums sent me one Blooga Pattern Shell and O-Pod, the opinions shared are my own.

 This diaper is unlike any diaper I’ve ever tried, in that it almost fits into all diaper categories.  The diaper is a one-size, pocket, all-in-two or diaper cover.  If used as an all-in-two or diaper cover, the shell can be reused between changes as long as it is not soiled.

Soft Bums sells several different O-pods to be used to either snap-in or stuff for the diaper including organic bamboo options!

The other great part about this diaper is that it is easily sized to fit your baby with the “Slide 2 Size” easy adjustment leg gussets.  This is different that the traditional snap down size adjustments and instead is sized by adjusting the elastic only.  This seemed to give my 8 month old son a very snug fit in this diaper!

Finally, I’m a fan of the larger touchtape because I feel that is gives durability to the touchtape.  I would, however, like to see this diaper in a snap version as another option.

I would like to follow-up World Breast Feeding week with a few breastfeeding related giveaways.  Here is the first of 3 that I have ready for the lucky readers!

Patty, of “Little Pat Pat’s” has sent me one of her handmade 5 in 1 nursing drapes to review.  Believe it or not, I don’t already own one of these and I’m on my second child!  I’ve actually sewn some myself to give as gifts, but never actually made one to keep.  This 5 in 1 nursing drape is of course, even better than my handmade version because it has 5 uses.

The stylish drape is lined with a quality cotton flannel fabric and can be used for:

- a tummy time blanket or travel play mat

- a stroller blanket

- a sun shade for an infant seat clipped into the stroller

- an on the go changing mat

The drape also features a pocket for nursing pads or accessories and two loops to be used for toy rings, slipping a burp cloth through, or to use for hanging from a bag or stroller.

Why I like this drape?

It is comfortable.  The soft cotton flannel fabric is perfect against baby’s skin while hidden beneath the drape.  I also like that it is sogeneroulsy sized, making it very easy to conceal one’s self while feeding baby.  Finally, I think this will become a staple blanket in my house as well as nursing drape because it is so soft and cozy and perfect to wrap baby up in!  I will be able to use this nursing drape long beyond the nursing years of my children!

Tracy, from Baby Blessings Natural Products was kind enough to offer to send me some of her cloth diapers to promote her site. She let me choose what type of diaper to try and since I’ve tried almost everything other than prefolds, I figured it’s time to give the prefolds a chance!

I have never used a prefold diaper, so I quickly googled “diaper folds.” I found some great pictures and easy instructions for 3 different folds. The folds are called ‘the newspaper fold’, ‘the reverse newspaper fold’ and ‘the twist fold’. I found ‘the reverse newspaper fold’ and ‘the twist fold’ to be the easiest and after several days of using the prefolds, I found that the twist worked best for me. To put the diaper on in a twist fold, you simply lay your baby on the flat diaper, twist the diaper once and fold down the front rise for the best fit and put on your snappi.

The twist fold seemed to provide the bulkiest coverage for my boy in the front, where he needs it the most. Not only does this fold provide great coverage, but it seemed to work best for the squirmy 15 month old who doesn’t have the patience for me to spend time folding and re-folding his diaper.

Along with 2 chinese prefolds, Tracy sent me 1 super brite cover and 1 snappi. The snappi was a really wonderful invention and a perfect easy alternative to diaper pins. To my surpise the snappi holds up very well to a toddler running all over the house! I think that the prefold diapers may be a bit scary at first, but onceyou give it a try they are a great, cheap alternative to a fitted or all in one diaper. The prefolds are just $3.50 a piece and the cover just $12.50, can be used for multiple changes.
