Hi! Great giveaway… I love making diapers vs buying them! I also saw these displayed yesterday and the PUL definitely seems better quality than the old Joann’s stuff. :) One question though… when does the giveaway close?

It closes on October 7 at 12:01 AM EST.

I am currently using cloth diapers. I like to make thing & would like to try & make some cloth diapers. Has anyone on here used the PUL fabric for diapers? I have read some mixed reviews. How do they work leak wise?

I haven’t used Babyville’s PUL for diapers yet, but I’ve heard it’s great. I think Joann fabrics stocked an old PUL that was no good for diaper making and delaminated when put in the dryer, but the babyville stuff is legit!

I am new to cloth diapers and was excited about the Babyville PUL fabric. I quickly sewed a diaper to check my pattern and size to my 6 week old son. I have been disappointed however with the PUL. I find that it allows dampness right through. I even tried having multiple layers of absorbing fabric (a cloth diaper folded into three layers, a wicking layer, five layers of flannel and then the PUL, still the same result a soaked exterior PUL. I wanted the PUL to work, so I didn’t have to use the bulky plastic pants, but those seem more effective!

My advice, don’t buy too much fabric so you could try it out. I bought one yard of the owl fabric and was able to get nine small diapers (size up from newborn). I hope this helps!

I’m also wondering if anyone has thought to use the waterproofing on the market for tents, etc. I was considering waterproofing the exterior PUL layer on my diapers.

        Check out this forum….http://www.cafemom.com/group/10225/forums/10225/Diaper_and_Sewing_Discussion
Many moms have made diapers from the Babyville Fabric.

Also, for waterproofing use, Nikwax TX.Direct (Spray-On) 5oz

For repairing leaky pocket diapers, use the spray. Spray all over the outside of the pocket, concentrating on the leg area where you are experiencing wicking. Allow to dry. Be careful not to get the spray on the microfleece, you don’t want that to be moisture repellant. After it’s dry, turn it inside out and spray the inside of the PUL as well, again concentrating on areas where you have leaking. Allow to dry.

Toss in dryer to heat set.

The effects should last for a couple of months before you need to do it again.

For diaper covers where you don’t need to worry about the microfleece layer, you can use the wash in stuff, then heat set in the dryer.

I think Joann’s is the only reseller. The fabric was made specifically for Joanns. You can try http://www.verybaby.com/cloth-diaper-fabric/ if you are looking for some other patterns. I have bought some diaper making supplies here. Hope this helps! Best of luck!
