Hand sewn Wool Soaker and Fitted Diaper

by Rachel McFadden on September 25, 2009

I am so happy with my new serger, I can now quickly make a beautiful pull-on wool soaker for my baby and a fitted diaper.

The wool soaker is made with 100% organic Merino wool interlock and 95% Merino Wool, 5% Lycra, Wool Interlock Blend for the wait and around the legs.  I bought my fabric from Nature’s Fabrics and the pattern is from Amazon, Sprightly Soaker and underwear pattern.

Next, I made a one-size fitted diaper to be worn under the wool soaker.  I used Organic Bamboo (70%) /Organic Cotton (30%) Fleece blend as fabric for the diaper.  When this fabric arrived, I was amazed, this was some of the softest fabric I had ever felt in my entire life!  I can imagine that my baby will love this diaper!  I made this pattern from scratch with some tweaking and now I love the result!

Love the soaker and diaper! I just got a serger myself and I’m figuring out how to use it. Nature’s Fabrics also have really reasonable prices for great blends! I have some bamboo fabric but it’s mediocre. Will definitely check them out.
