I’m back from my Christmas blogging hiatus! I have been so committed to posting everyday, but I did not have one extra minute this holiday. As usual, I waited until the last minute to do all of my Christmas shopping this year and on the days before Christmas I was running around trying to quickly gather together gifts.
This year I decided that I would try to make as many gifts as possible for my family members. I had a greater vision than what I actually ended up giving, but in the end I was happy with how everything turned out.
A friend of mine is in town for the holidays and she also wanted to make gifts for her family so we decided to knit some scarves. Luckily, there is a cute little shop in town that sells all natural wool yarn, so we went there to stock up. As I said, this was all done in a mad rush before Christmas and we were buying things we needed last weekend. I hadn’t knitted in 4 years or so, but I knew it was super easy and it would come back to me. I made 3 scarves for my sister, sister-in-law and step-mother. I was literally finishing up the scarves up until the last moment that I needed to give them as gifts (but that’s my life, I always wait until the last minute). I was very happy with how they turned out and I know that they were appreciated by those who I gave them to.

Now, of course my projects weren’t complete with just the scarves I made for a few family members. For as long as I can remember my sister and I have been crafting something to give to Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents as gifts. We have made everything from handpainted Christmas boxes, ornaments, plates and olive oil dipping sauce to hand blown ornaments and candle jars (courtesy of my husband and brother-in-law the glass blowers, www.mcfaddenartglass.com). Wow, that really makes me wish I had pictures of all of the gifts we have made over the years. If I do say so myself, my sister and I have been quite creative with our projects. Well, this year was no different, except we didn’t collaborate on our gifts until Christmas day! Again, we wait until the last minute!!! Well, I had purchased some felt to make some cute ornaments and she had purchased some mason jars for some yummy cookies, so we combined our efforts to throw together a cute gift. The Christmas tree felt ornament hung from the jar filled with star dolce de leche cookies (yummy!).

While I love to make all of these beautiful gifts, I am very happy that Christmas is over and I can relax! I have the entire week off of work next week, so I can recoup from the holidays, my gift to myself. A few days of non-stop Christmas and I am exhausted. Our Christmas began Christmas eve morning and didn’t end until last night around 11 pm…now you can understand why I have been MIA on my blog!!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Please share with me any crafts that you gave as gifts this Christmas!

WOW! You did a wonderful job on all of those! Love how those scarves turned out, and that Christmas Tree ornament is adorable!!
Glad you had a wonderful Christmas! Enjoy your week off!
Those cookies look FABULOUS.
This year I sewed aprons for a few people – 4 in total. I also sewed a puppet theatre for the kids, and knit a pair of socks for my mom. And with my daughter’s help we made 2 embroidered pillows. I also had some jam and jelly on hand from canning season, which made an excellent gift.
Hooray for handmade holidays!
