Frankin Goose is a fantastic new online store that sells all natural, organic and eco-friendly products for babies/children.  Sheri Doyle, the company’s Vice President explained to me a little bit about their new store:

“We have over 1400 products on the site and add more almost daily. We carry large companies products as well as WAHM made products and products made by small families or individuals. We are also adding educational information through the site and the blog. We have a baby registry, a birthday registry, wishlists and in a week or two we will have email gift certificates (saves on waste and plastic manufacturing). Our products that are plastic are free of all the bad stuff, unless there is no other option, i.e. car seats, strollers, diaper pails and then we have chosen to sell only the companies who are trying to make a difference either through their dedication to children’s safety and learning, or through giving back, having green factories, etc. I feel like what we are doing is really important, it sets us apart from the other sites. We are really concerned about getting this right, with creating a safe shopping environment for parents and families. We want a site where you can send your Aunt, who totally doesn’t get the organic lifestyle choice, to shop and know you will get something that is safe and good for your child and the planet. Also, we want parents to be able to spend the hours they are spending now hunting all over the internet to find products, with their children. Those two things are  the reasons we are doing this.”

I know that for me a store like this is exactly what I would have loved to have had available to me when I was pregnant and registering for baby products.  I tried to register for only organic and eco-friendly products from Babies ‘R’ Us and Target, but it was tough to pick from only a select few items offered in those stores.  With a store like Franklin Goose, I could have not only had a wide variety of amy eco-friendly products to register for, but it is also a simple way of letting your family and friends who are buying for you know that you are interested in only eco-friendly products.

Franklin Goose is you one-stop shop for all your baby needs.  They offer everything from cloth diapers to baby furniture and everything in between.  If you are a pregnant, soon to be mommy, you will love their registry.  The registry and the website are both very easy to navigate, so your guests would love shopping at Franklin Goose as well.

Sheri was kind enough to send me one of their products to test out!  She sent me the small Wheely Bee .  This rideable bee was built on aWheely Bee plywood base made of renewable plantation timber, as well as being non-toxic and completely PVC free.  I was surprised how light and easy to move the Wheely Bee is.  My son has really loved this little toy since it came about a week ago.  He especially loves the “feelers” which wobble when he pulls them!  It also feels wonderful to know that a product like this can last a lifetime, rather than the plastic toys that break and crack within only a few months of purchasing them.

I learned that I an now completely freaked out by my flour!!! I didn’t know anything about Potassium bromate until I read the article on 12/11/09 about it. Great, just what I need. lol. We might have to start buying some special flour, because I make homemade things all of the time to avoid preservatives and additives. Now even my made from scratch stuff can be potentially dangerous.

I love the wooden Plan Toys Baking Utensils. They are adorable and our little ones would love playing with their own utensils and I would love that they aren’t made from plastic!

I try to buy all breadw ithout potassium bromate because I know it isn’t good for you and I also always only use unbromated flour. What I didn’t know is this: “Potassium bromate is considered a category 2B carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. A category 2B carcinogen means that it is possibly carcinogenic to humans.”
Excellent article. More people need to know about this.
